MAR 10 SUGGS, FULTZ OUT VS. PACERS The Orlando Magic will be without two of their top guards against the Indiana Pacers. Goalie Connor Ungar of Brock University is reportedly close to signing a deal with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers are “leading the charge” when it comes to signing Brock University goaltender Connor Ungar, according to Ben Steiner of CBC Sports. Ungar was named U Sports Rookie of the Year for the 2023-24 season after posting a .932 save percentage across 26 regular-season games and a .928 save percentage over six playoff games for the Badgers. The Calgary native led Brock to a 21-7-0 record this season, good for first place in the Ontario University Athletics West Division. The Badgers swept the Windsor Lancers in two games in the OUA quarter-finals but then got edged out in the…
The Indianapolis Colts are going into the regular season with an extremely young cornerback room, one that won’t be featuring one of their fifth-round picks from the 2023 NFL draft. In a mildly shocking move, the Colts wound up waiving fifth-round pick Darius Rush as a part of the moves to get the roster to 53 players before Tuesday’s deadline. Meanwhile, they opted to keep seventh-round pick Jaylon Jones. When asked what went into cutting Rush, general manager Chris Ballard’s answer was pretty simple. “That’s a good question, that was hard. Jaylon Jones,” Ballard said Wednesday of the reason that led the…
The Baltimore Ravens took a flyer on veteran Odell Beckham Jr. last season, paying him what amounted to $16 million for 35 catches, 535 yards and three touchdowns. But when you consider Beckham posted a career-best 16.1 yards per catch in the process, his season doesn’t look so bad. And the Pittsburgh Steelers could be on the hunt to add him to their ever-changing roster. Pittsburgh has already added wideout Van Jefferson as new general manager Omar Khan continues to overhaul the Steelers’ roster through free agency, and it seems the top wideout priority for Khan is former Bengal Tyler…

The 49ers have made a pair of moves which will primarily affect their special teams. Wide receiver Chris Conley has been re-signed on a one-year deal, per a team announcement. In addition, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle notes cornerback Chase Lucas has been signed, also on a one-year accord Conley joined San Francisco last offseason to offer the team a complementary option in the passing game along with the potential for special teams contributions. The 31-year-old had not been a mainstay with respect to third phase duties in many of his previous stops. Drawing only eight combined targets between regular and postseason play in…
The Penrith Panthers have reportedly extended the contract of young centre Paul Alamoti, adding further depth to their backline for the future. Regarded as one of the best young centres in the competition, Alamoti made his NRL debut last season for the Canterbury Bulldogs and would play a further 18 games in 2023. An Under-19s NSW representative in 2022, he played in the Bulldogs’ Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup teams before seeing him rise into the NRL. At the Panthers, he has begun the season for the club’s NSW Cup team. As reported by News Corp, the Penrith Panthers have extended Alamoti’s contract for an extra year until the end of the 2025 season.…
The Chicago Bears finally pulled the trigger on the trade we knew was coming all offseason. After a couple weeks of trying to gauge the market, the Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. But the return on the trade was paltry by most standards of young quarterback trades. In return, the Bears are getting just a sixth-round pick in 2025. Per Adam Schefter, that sixth-round pick can turn into a fourth-round pick if Fields plays at least 51 percent of snaps for the Steelers in 2024. That seems unlikely, though. Fields will be entering a completely revamped quarterback room in Pittsburgh.…
Greg Scruggs, who was named Michigan’s defensive line coach just 10 days ago, was arrested on a drunk-driving charge early Saturday and suspended from the program. “Greg made an unfortunate mistake and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated,” Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said in a statement. “He made no excuses and has taken accountability for his actions. The football program and athletic department have suspended Greg indefinitely while we review details of the incident.” The Wolverines announced his hiring on March 6. He was the defensive line coach at Wisconsin in 2023 and the assistant line coach with…
Five-star Tennessee quarterback commitment George MacIntyre of Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy plans to return to Knoxville this weekend for a two-day visit with the Vols that will allow him to attend their first spring practice. He expects to be joined by an elite wide receiver who’s one of Tennessee’s top targets at the position. MacIntyre told GoVols247 that he’s set to visit Tennessee on Sunday and Monday. He posted Thursday afternoon on his X account that five-star Class of 2025 wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, a former Alabama commitment from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Fla., will be there, too. Back…
