Quarterback Mitch Trubisky is not expected to be back with the Pittsburgh Steelers next season. But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported on February 11 that Mason Rudolph probably won’t return either. “Rudolph, who will be a free agent next month, has indicated he’s interested in a fresh start after six seasons with the team that drafted him in the third round in 2018,” wrote the three NFL insiders. Losing Rudolph and cutting Trubisky would result in the Steelers only having Kenny Pickett at quarterback on the 2024 roster. Pittsburgh would then be forced…
The Detroit Lions lost their first assistant coach, defensive backs coach Brian Duker, off last year’s coaching staff. But Lions fans on social media didn’t seem too upset about it. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on February 10 that Duker is joining the Miami Dolphins coaching staff for 2024. “The Dolphins are hiring Brian Duker as their secondary coach/pass game coordinator per source,” Pelissero wrote. “Duker spent the past three seasons with the Lions, most recently as Des coach.” Hiring off the Lions secondary is crazy,” wrote Lucas Thomas. Spliff simply posted a laughing gif that…

Caesars sportsbook executive Adam Pullen has taken sizeable bets in his two-plus decades establishing the betting lines for the Super Bowl. Just not a six-figure wager on which side a coin will land. That changed when a gambler visiting the famed Las Vegas casino plopped down $100,000 on the outcome of the opening coin toss Sunday night for Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. The bet was on tails. “He’s either going to be in the hole or up big before the game even starts,” said Pullen, the assistant director…
The biggest strength of the Detroit Lions all season long was the play of their offensive line. Detroit has one of the best tackle tandems in the league in veteran left tackle Taylor Decker and first-time All-Pro right tackle Penei Sewell. Center Frank Ragnow is a two-time All-Pro, including this past season. He and Sewell were graded the top center and tackle in football by Pro Football Focus this year. Jonah Jackson and Graham Glasgow are both very good guards. Lions general manager Brad Holmes won’t overlook how important that unit is to the team’s success this offseason…
Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic doesn’t think Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has learned his lesson. Green is just a few weeks back from serving a 12-game suspension for hitting Nurkic in the face during a December contest between the Suns and Warriors (video here). Nurkic claimed at the time that everyone — even Green — deserves a second chance to learn from their mistakes. After Saturday’s game, the Suns center no longer felt the same way. Nurkic was highly critical of Green after the Suns’ 113-112 loss to the Warriors at Chase Center in…
The Los Angeles Rams’ passing defense left a bit to be desired this season, so the team could be looking to sign a name in free agency to help the secondary. The team could use a corner or safety to help the defense over the top, and according to Brad Spielberger of PFF, the best corner that is available in free agency is Chicago Bears star Jaylon Johnson. Johnson continued to push for a new deal right up to requesting a trade at the deadline this year, but after conversations with other teams, Chicago elected to keep him around,”…
“I’m not surprised,” said Goff in a one-on-one interview. “It was a fun year. It was a great year for us and unfortunately, we came up a couple games short of our ultimate goal. And we were able to build a pretty good foundation this year that can carry us for quite some time.” The Lions held a 24-7 lead over the home team, the San Francisco 49ers, in the NFC Championship Game. However, a couple of questionable fourth down calls by head coach Dan Campbell and some mishaps led to the Niners scoring 27 unanswered points and an…
As the year played out, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson became the clear favorite to win the NFL MVP – and won it almost unanimously at the NFL Honors Awards presentation on Thursday night. Jackson received 49 of the 50 first-place votes, missing out on becoming the first two-time unanimous MVP in NFL history. He’s the 11th multiple-time winner of the award, the youngest quarterback to win it twice, and the second-youngest player behind Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown. The NFL world reacted to Jackson’s feat: Nick Shook of NFL.com – “The most important element — a Super Bowl…
Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell appears to be setting his sights high for the 2024 season after how the team’s 2023 campaign ended. Star Lions pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson made an appearance on NBC Sports’ “PFT Live” and revealed the message Campbell gave him during the team’s exit meetings. With an excellent Campbell impersonation, Hutchinson said Campbell made it clear that the goal is to play in the Super Bowl next year. In our exit meetings the day after, he’s like, ‘We’re going to the Super Bowl next year. Screw it. I don’t care what it takes,’” Hutchinson…
