In a strategic move to strengthen their defensive line, the Chicago Bears have signed defensive lineman Jonathan Ford from the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. Standing at 6’5” and weighing 338 pounds, Ford brings significant size and potential to Chicago’s defense.Â
Ford, a seventh-round pick by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft, spent the entirety of his rookie season on Green Bay’s active roster but remained inactive for all games. In the following season, he was part of the Packers’ practice squad. The Bears’ decision to sign Ford comes in response to placing wide receiver and return specialist DeAndre Carter on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury.Â
While specific financial terms of Ford’s contract with the Bears have not been disclosed, the acquisition underscores Chicago’s commitment to enhancing their defensive front. Ford’s addition is anticipated to provide depth and a robust presence on the defensive line as the Bears prepare for the remainder of the season.
